Over the years I’ve scoured junk shops and antique malls finding hidden gems for my collection. While hunting for treasures I would see these collector plates by the Danbury Mint among other manufacturers and immediately pass them by.
On one of my outings I looked with new eyes at these plates as potential ‘canvases’ for a new art project. I started picking them up and amassed a good amount and began altering them in various ways. The objective was to bring them back, make them beautiful, and more conceptual than their original intent. The original intent being cute collectible objects that came numbered and limited with certificates of authenticity.
This group of plates seeks to elevate these collectibles to a higher level of art. One of concept, color, texture and a refreshed beauty. I call this group of RESCUED plates Sight and each one has a new certificate of authenticity signed and numbered by the artist.
